Ways to check the credibility of the contractor - free of charge
Step one - Headquarters of Records and Information on Business. It will work in the case of a self-employed contractor. On the website, we can verify whether the company has been registered, has not been suspended, or has not been removed from the register. In addition, the entrepreneur has the opportunity to compare the data provided to him by the contractor.
Step two - National Debt Register. For contractors operating in a commercial law company (e.g.limited liability company), the owner of the company has the right to view the full copy of the excerpt, namely: to section IV, which informs about arrears with the tax office, the Social Insurance Institution, or about bailiff executions, and to section VI, which informs about the liquidation proceedings or on bankruptcy.
Step three - SEED-on-Europa. SEED-on-Europa is a system made available by the European Commission, thanks to which entrepreneurs can check contractor's data in the field of excise goods, in particular data on the validity of the excise number, type of activity, group of excise goods.
The fourth step in checking the credibility of the contractor is to use VIES (confirmation of the VAT number). VIES is a system that allows you to check the activity of the VAT number if we are dealing with a foreign contractor.
The fifth step - what else can we do:
-
read opinions about the contractor on the Internet, bearing in mind the negative opinions written (probably) by the competition,
-
check the company by phone - verify the data provided to us in this way,
-
verify the credibility certificates you have, such as Rzetelna Firma,
-
apply directly to the contractor for the issuance of registration forms - first of all, a certificate of granting NIP and REGON.
Ways to check the credibility of the contractor - paid
Register of debtors of the Economic Information Bureau. BIG provides access to InfoMonitor - Report on the Entrepreneur, which determines whether the contractor checked by us belongs to the National Register of Debtors and the amount in arrears and who reported it. You can receive such information after submitting the application in person at the BIG customer service office, by letter or via the website after prior registration.
Application to ZUS and the tax office - thanks to which we will find out if the contractor with whom we want to cooperate has no arrears due to non-payment of VAT or income tax. However, to do so, we need our client's consent. When submitting an application to the Tax Office, you can also find out whether the contractor is an active VAT payer - in this case, the entrepreneur does not need the consent of the party. In addition, you can submit a letter to ZUS for information on whether our future contractor is in arrears with civil law liabilities.
Business intelligence is the most expensive way to determine a contractor's receivables. These companies offer a thorough verification of the credibility of an entrepreneur who can operate both domestically and abroad. These intelligence services reach the contractor's former employees, check the company's history on their own and present the entrepreneur's full report.
Before making a decision to cooperate, the entrepreneur can assess the credibility of the contractor by using many methods. In the event that obtaining information on his own has not brought the expected results, the entrepreneur may use the services of trade intelligence agencies.
