That is why very often, when we hear about health resorts, we have the famous Ciechocinek in mind. So let's check, that's why the place is so famous and what diseases you can go there with.

Ciechocinek - the history of the health resort

In the second half of the 18th century, when Poland underwent its first partition, Austria acquired the main sources of salt mining, i.e. Wieliczka and Bochnia. Thus, the search for other places that would make it possible to obtain this substance began. Then it turned out that Ciechocinek was the perfect place with large deposits of brine. In this town, 3 graduation towers were built, i.e. large wooden buildings that were used to evaporate water from the brine. Their designer was professor Jakub Graff. The graduation towers are really tall, almost 16 meters, and additionally they are almost 1750 meters long, so the size is impressive.

As already mentioned, the graduation towers cause the water from the brine to evaporate, there is a lot of iodine in the air, which is why a specific, healing microclimate is created around these buildings. No wonder then that it was quickly realized how great a health resort Ciechocinek is. So initially, at the beginning of the 19th century, 4 brine baths were installed. However, after World War I, thanks to subsidies, the city became really well-equipped, so after World War II it started to receive patients. Ciechocinek was constantly developing and attracted many patients, not only because of the healing climate, but also the beauty of the landscape and the peace of this place.
