The recruitment process in each company may be slightly different - but it always has several common parts without which it cannot be carried out. The result is usually the same - selecting the best candidate for the position with the vacancy.

The recruitment process is a fairly extensive, complex procedure, the task of which is to find an employee from among the available candidates who will successfully fill a vacancy at a predetermined position. The best of them should most accurately meet the company's expectations and have appropriate skills, education and competences. Depending on the needs, recruitment can be internal (choice between employees already working in the company, but in other positions), external or mixed. If the position is relevant to business, the recruitment may be multi-stage, and it may be handled by a professional company.

The recruitment process in a few steps

1. Formulation of the need

When a company needs to create a new position or fill a vacancy, the recruitment process should begin. The first point of this complex procedure is to define the requirements needed for a given position, then the skills and competences that the candidate should have and the salary they can receive.

2. Create an advertisement

Once we know who we are looking for, we need to announce it to the world. This is most often used by recruitment advertisements, in which we should first of all list the tasks that the new employee will have to perform and the expected competences that he should have. It is also worth mentioning the benefits that he can count on in the proposed position.

3. Choosing the place of publication of the advertisement

Depending on the type of recruitment (internal, external, mixed), the next point is the choice of the medium. It can be an internal intranet, popular external websites, an employment office or even social media. It is worth predicting in advance what our target group is and where we can find the largest number of candidates who meet our expectations.

4. Collection and analysis of CVs

After the time specified in the announcement, we should proceed to the analysis of the applications we received from the candidates. The first selection is made on the basis of the Curriculum Vitae themselves, rejecting those people who do not even meet the previous assumptions.

5. Telephone calls

After the initial selection, selected people are invited to face-to-face meetings in which they have a chance to present themselves. Before this stage, however, telephone calls are often practiced, which allow us to minimize errors in earlier selection.

6. Face-to-face conversations

Recruitment meetings are the moment when candidates can prove themselves through direct contact. This is the greatest value of the recruiting process and can take many forms. A simple conversation is a standard, but there are also assessment centers, control tasks or even skill tests to consider. In large companies and corporations, this recruitment stage may take place even during several recruitment meetings.

7. Make a decision

When we have obtained all the necessary information about the candidates and all doubts have been dispelled, the most important moment for the employer comes - choosing the right candidate. Often, a decision is made only after several meetings at various levels - so that it brings a positive effect for the company.

8. Feedback

The telephone number of the selected candidate is the responsibility of the employer. This type of contact with other people is just a nice gesture. The stage in question may also require several additional meetings of those responsible for the recruitment process. It may happen that the selected candidate will not accept our proposal and we will have to choose another one or we will have to negotiate the salary rate.

9. Employment

The entire recruitment process ends on the day the new employee signs the contract. This means that all conditions have been accepted by the candidate, and the company has gained an employee for a vacancy for which the recruitment was conducted.

Recruitment is a complex process that consists of several important elements. Scrupulousness and professionalism in this aspect may allow you to find an employee for the company who will successfully fill a given vacancy for years.
