In scientific studies, organizational culture is defined as: a set of social norms and value systems, an appropriate organizational climate or behavioral requirements. It should concern the views, beliefs, expectations and norms that will bind all employees of the company.

Caring for the organizational culture is aimed at, among others: integrating employees, understanding the mission and strategy of the organization, creating uniform methods of measuring and evaluating the effects, creating a common language and conceptual apparatus, avoiding conflicts and negative emotions.

Key principles of good organizational culture

Each company is guided by different values, views and goals. However, there are some rules that all companies can and should apply.

  • Establishing a value system

The basis for the functioning of each enterprise is to define its values. They are to be hints for employees on how to behave properly and how to think in order to achieve the company's vision. Established ideals may proclaim mutual respect, care for professionalism or act for the benefit of clients' interests. When creating a value system, it is not worth using your imagination excessively. Passwords do not have to be extremely original, it is important that they are authentic - possible to use in the daily life of the company.

  • Create a vision

The vision and organizational mission, along with the values ​​described above, are the core of every company. The former becomes a contribution to the definition of values ​​and goals of action.

You should focus on creating an appropriate text that expresses the company's vision, because if it is accurate and, above all, honest, it will guide not only the actions of employees, but perhaps also suppliers, partners or customers.

  • Translate words into action

As the well-known maxim says: it is not words that count, but deeds. Therefore, the values ​​formulated by the company's managers should be reflected in the company's day-to-day activities or, for example, in the employee promotion policy.

  • Completing the appropriate staff

In order for values ​​to be translated into actions, there is still a need for people who believe them or will have no problems with assimilating them. Therefore, when recruiting a new employee, apart from analyzing his competences and experience, it is worth checking whether he will fit the organizational culture of a given company.

  • Create a narrative

Each enterprise has a history of origins, sometimes full of ups and downs. It is worth transforming it into a narrative that will be an important element of the company's image. To increase its impact, you can adopt an informal style that is usually closer to the audience.

  • Appropriate arrangement of the workplace

The last factor that largely constructs organizational culture is place. Appropriate architectural arrangement of space (e.g. opening it) may have a positive effect on cooperation between employees. In addition to the layout of the workplace, its aesthetics are important, as well as the part of the city where the company is located.

Proper organizational culture - what benefits can it provide to the company?

Although a good organizational culture consists of other factors apart from those mentioned above, the use of the latter has a positive impact on the enterprise. Defining the vision and values ​​that are important to them will make employees more aware of the goals to which they can contribute. Knowing company slogans, they can also identify more and more with their workplace.

They will also be positively influenced by the implementation of the values ​​described by the managers - their subordinates seeing that the company keeps its word, e.g. regarding promotions, will not think about leaving it. However, if they work in correctly and aesthetically arranged places, they will feel good both individually and in groups.
