Have you just created your company's website and you don't know what to do to make it visible in search results? First, the page must be indexed for the link to appear on the SERPs. What is Google Indexing? It's just search engine robots adding more pages to its index. It is on the basis of the data collected there that a special tool selects the content that will appear in the search results. So it's important to know how to make it easier for Google's robots to index your pages!

What role does indexing play in Google?

Indexing is one of the most important processes in the operation of search engines. When Google searches for a specific phrase, another crawler searches the index to find the most relevant answers to the query. The search results pages are the result of the searcher's actions. As you well know, how high your website will be in the results depends on properly conducted SEO activities - search engine optimization.

Before you start talking about SEO, however, it is important to ensure that your newly created website is included in the search results. Google crawlers carry out indexing according to a specific algorithm, paying attention to specific elements of the pages. Usually, a new page appearing on the web is indexed within a few days, but if that is too long for you - there are ways to speed up the process.

How to speed up indexing of your website on Google?

There are several ways you can improve this process. They increase the likelihood that Google robots will start indexing your site a little faster. The first way is to use Google Search Console - this tool allows you to notify Google about the creation of a new website. However, it is quite problematic when you have an extensive website - then you would have to enter every single page of the site in GSC.

The second way is to take care of inbound links for your website. This way, the Google robot will reach it faster. Once you have created it, link to it on other websites. It is estimated that at the beginning it is enough from a few to a dozen or so incoming links.

A third way that will make it easier for Google crawlers to index your pages is by making a sitemap. This is especially useful for large websites with many pages. You can make such a map available for Google robots via the mentioned Google Search Console or, colloquially speaking, do it on foot. In the root of your website, you create a robots.txt file and put a line there with the location of your sitemap file.

Internal linking is also effective for large websites. An efficient system of moving between pages within the website allows for more effective and faster access to them by Google robots.

What do Google robots consider when indexing?

We mentioned earlier that indexing by Google robots is the registration of new pages and their content. The robot does not browse the page in full, but pays attention to many elements contained on it. Thanks to this, it can pre-define its subject and assign it in the index to appropriate categories, as well as designate a set of keywords. So what does the Google robot that lands on a new page take into account? We will point out a few important elements:

  1. Content placed between the and tags.

  2. Page content, placed between tags and, in particular, including headings - and highlighted content, described with a tag .

  3. Outgoing links placed on the website and their anchor texts (anchor texts, i.e. parts of the link visible to the Internet user).

  4. Alt and title elements next to images placed on the page.

  5. Meta tags, description and keywords.

If you do not want the Google crawler to crawl all pages of your site, you need to include this in the robots meta tag or in the aforementioned robots.txt file. If in the meta tag robots you specify the content arguments as noindex, follow - the page will not be indexed, but the links on it will be. If you use the index arguments, nofollow - the robot will index the page, but not the links on it. In the case of noindex, nofollow arguments - the page or links will not be indexed by the Google robot.

So what should you first of all take care of when creating website content and interesting elements for Google robots? Take care of the headings, subheadings, names of the website sections, etc., include keywords describing your website in them, and make sure that they describe its content well. Highlight words of particular value in the text, check whether the links are well described by anchors - whether it is possible to deduce the content of the linked page from them. Remember to refine your website in the smallest detail - this will effectively affect its accurate indexing by Google robots. Thanks to this, Internet users will find your website easier in the search engine.
