Just take a look at an example of a high-fat diet to see that it seems ideal for someone who doesn't like counting calories and only finds fatty foods tasty. Imagine that for breakfast you eat eggs with bacon, nibble them with pancakes fried in lard, for lunch you eat cabbage soup and ribs with french fries, and for dinner you eat milk soup with egg yolks and eggs. Such a menu is full of fat, which is why a high-fat diet seems ideal for many. In the end, you can get the impression that we eat what we want and still lose weight. For others, however, such a menu is synonymous with clogged veins, heart disease, malaise and weight gain.

Can such a diet be healthy? Will we not hurt ourselves even though the weight may go down? Kwasniewski's diet is known primarily for the fact that it does not look like a diet at all. Let's take a look at what its ingredients look like and check whether it does not harm your health!

What is a high-fat diet?

High-fat diet, also known as the optimal diet of Dr. Jan Kwasniewski, consists in almost 100% elimination of carbohydrates from daily meals. It is recommended to eat such products that have had a place in the human diet for decades. Therefore, the menu includes mainly fatty meats, cheeses, eggs, cream and butter. Kwasniewski's diet is fat and has virtually no limitations. Three meals a day are consumed and the ratio of proteins to fats to carbohydrates is at the level of 1.0: 2.5–3.5: 0.5. This is a starting value as protein intake should decrease with the duration of the diet.

What should you eat on an optimal diet?

What foods are recommended in a high-fat diet? First of all, you should eat a lot of eggs (over 4 a day), fatty milk and cream (about 0.5 l during the day), cheese (yellow, blue cheese, oscypek or full-fat cottage cheese), beef, pork, goose meat, duck meat, offal , fatty fish (tuna, salmon, herring or eel), bacon, pork neck, head cheese, black pudding, lard, butter, pate, sausages, mayonnaise, nuts or vegetables containing little sugar (e.g. tomato or cucumber). Mushrooms, e.g. champignons are also allowed (maximum 300 g during the day). You can also eat one potato a day, preferably in the form of fries fried in lard. Additionally, you should drink a lot (2.5 liters a day), but remember that drinks must be unsweetened. Coffee and tea are allowed.

However, you should avoid sweets, cakes, cookies, honey, bread, sugar, salt, rice, groats, fruit, flour dishes, beans, lentils, peas or sweet drinks.

What are its advantages?

A high-fat diet has both opponents and supporters. Although its ingredients are very caloric and it might seem that you can only gain weight by eating them, it is not like that. Optimal nutrition can lose weight. It is also worth emphasizing that thanks to such a diet, we get used to sugar and salt, which is also beneficial for health.

Is a high-fat diet healthy?

It's hard to resist the impression that this amount of fatty foods in your diet cannot be completely healthy. Although it has been proven that this way of eating can lose weight, and even possibly lower blood cholesterol, it is worth being aware that a high-fat diet is advised against by nutritionists.

First of all, the point is that we acquire eating habits that can lead to atherosclerosis. Eating such meals can also cause high blood pressure, while too much protein can harm our kidneys. In addition, an optimal diet acidifies the body.

Kwasniewski's diet is low in vitamins and low in fiber. Vitamin deficiencies can lead to many unpleasant ailments, while too little fiber means worse digestion or problems with defecation. All of this can lead to the development of tumors.

Additionally, 3 meals for an adult is too small. It is assumed that there should be at least 5 meals.

A high-fat diet is either highly criticized or praised. As in many other cases, each side has its reasons. However, it is worth remembering that such an apparently perfect diet is not supported by nutritionists.
